Give A Way for a Safe House

Give A Way for a Safe House

I am excited to share with you about an amazing opportunity. An opportunity to donate to an incredible organization and an opportunity to win some incredible loot!!

My friend Sarah from Ground Swell has put together a giveaway to benefit Feeding the Orphans. Feeding the Orphans is an organization started by a young girl and her family to help raise funds for orphans in Ghana and Togo. They are currently seeking to raise enough funds to build a safe house for Ghanian children rescued from the fishing slave trade. You can read more about their efforts here.

This is where you come in. For a $20 donation, you have the opportunity to win an AMAZING prize package valued at over $1500. In addition, you will know that your donation will make an incredible impact on children who so desperately need it.

To enter and read more about the Give.A.Way, please visit Ground Swell. A HUGE thanks to those of you who donate and spread the word.

gingerbread house wrapping

gingerbread house wrapping

There is nothing that I love more than simple ideas that can be executed on a budget! One of my favorite holiday tricks is to simply use a roll of brown paper, a white pen and a little creativity to make unique wrapping paper.

Brown paper can typically be found at the hardware store or home improvement store- a roll will coast around $5. There are all kinds of white pens out there by lately I am loving the Uni-Ball Signo Gel Pen.

Start by wrapping your presents with brown.
Then get creative adding simple, decorative and whimsical house drawings!
The result is pretty little packages that have the look and feel of gingerbread houses.

Guest Bedroom Office Update Philly Row House Reno

Guest Bedroom Office Update Philly Row House Reno

Its time to share more progress on our Philly Row House today, folks! Ill cover the rest of the upstairs, which includes the guest bedroom and my office. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a bathroom, and I talked about the master bedroom last week. Check that out here.

We made the middle bedroom into the guest bedroom and its a pretty little cozy space if I do say so myself!

The bed is in need of a headboard (I may snag the one thats in the master bedroom and make a new one for that room) and Im debating what to use in here for bedside tables, but Im happy with how its coming along. It feels a bit more traditional than my style leans these days, but theres plenty of time to remedy that!

I love that old chest of drawers - its a piece we inherited from my grandparents and it is a beast. They just dont make em like that anymore.

I cant wait to add some finishing touches to this room over the coming months!

Now, onto the office, which is where I spend the majority of my days :).

If youve been following the blog for awhile, youre probably having deja vu because I pretty much just transplanted it from our old house, but now I have more than double the square footage. You might remember how tiny my office was (which wasnt an issue - Im just telling it like it is!) and now half of this room is empty. I dont know what to do with all that extra space, ha! Were thinking of making that spot into a mini sitting area, but well see...

Anyway, my desk is under the back window, and the only other piece of furniture is a bookcase.

Its a great space, and as Ive said about every space in our house so far, I cant wait to continue making progress on it!

In the next Philly reno update, Ill show you how were doing downstairs. Its come a long way too!
