Goodbye Reader
Goodbye Reader

So, what are you using now in its place? Im using a couple of things until I find my favorite. For the most part, Ive been using Feedly. But, its not my favorite. Ive run into some issues with it synching what Ive read across multiple devices. If Ive read a bunch of new posts on my computer and then browse on my phone, sometimes they show up as unread still. There are also some kinks with navigating, but maybe I will get the hang of it. Im also a little worried that Feedly depends on Google functionality, it seems to synch with Google data every time I log in, I dont know if it will be dependable after Google takes this away. I think Im going to end up using another service.
If youre looking for the least amount of change from Google Reader, The Old Reader might be for you. It has a very similar setup. Once youve signed up, you need to upload you subscriptions by uploading the .xml file that you can download from Google takeout. After that, everything is very straightforward.
I also signed up for Bloglovin and imported my Google Reader list, so that I would have that option. I like the layout and suggestions for new blogs to follow. The only problem Ive had has been in the actual reading, I dont like having to click the posts to read everything... I want to just be able to scroll through the entire post.
So, what have you settled on to replace Google Reader? Are you liking it even more than you thought?
P.S. If youre looking for another way to follow my blog, you can always sign up to get a message straight to your inbox each day that I post. Enter your email address into the box on the left sidebar that says "Follow by Email."

Goodbye for now
Goodbye for now
So leaving the island became even harder now. And my current mainland residence cant help but feel a bit empty. Sometimes leaving the TV on helps.

Goodbye Lee Alexander McQueen
Goodbye Lee Alexander McQueen

I woke up to hear the news: Lee McQueen has died at age 40. He was found dead in his London home, having committed suicide due to depression which set in after his mothers death last week. My thoughts go out to his friends and family. There will be no more posts today, out of respect for a great designer, who left this world too soon. Available link for download
On the Alexander McQueen website is this statement: "On behalf of Lee McQueens family, Alexander McQueen today announces the tragic news that Lee McQueen, the founder and designer of the Alexander McQueen brand, has been found dead at his home. At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lees family. Lees family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this."
While most of us fans and fashion lovers never knew him personally, we feel the loss keenly. McQueen was an exciting, inspiring designer and, through his clothes and runway shows, he made a connection with us. He will be missed for a long time to come.
Wendy Brandes posted this video of a holographic Kate Moss floating in air like an angel, in an ethereal Alexander McQueen gown. I agree — one of the most beautiful things ever to grace a runway.

Goodbye Narwhals!
Goodbye Narwhals!
This is what 135 narwhals looks like before:
(Wait, maybe because it IS the first day of SPRING, after all!)
The thought, "Narwhals!" has been running through my mind for the past few months. It was a lot of work getting an order that big completed! I loved making the cute little guys, but Im happy to be done with that project. Now I can move on to the next big thing. This new season holds many new and exciting things- settling in to life as a family of four, moving into our first house, getting kittens, stocking up my Etsy shop again, and I cant wait to see what else comes our way!

Goodbye to Social Media for the most part
Goodbye to Social Media for the most part
Like, way down.
Google+ gone, Goodreads gone, LinkedIn gone, email list gone. Ill keep this blog, Facebook and Twitter and thats it. Give me a shout if you want to chat. I always respond.
But wait, B. Isnt that contrary to popular thinking? Arent independent authors supposed to be super-users of every fancy internet johnny-come-lately hot spot to create media buzz.
No, dummy. Authors are supposed to write and read, and Im sick of getting nothing but "READ MY BOOK ITS KEWL" notices on all the stupid social media sites I signed up for.
Im tired of yelling at people on Twitter to stop spamming me. Tired of forgetting to update all twenty of my various blogs at various sites when I get around to writing one. Tired of realizing I forgot to write one.
For 2013, Im writing four books. Four full-length, kick ass, take no prisoners books that are going to rock your face off. And if Im going to do said face-removal-rocking I cant be sitting around worrying about not blogging enough on Goodreads.
I came here to do one thing and one thing alone. Not be a celebrity. Not be an internet sensation. Not go viral with anything I write or film. Certainly not to blog.
I came to write books. Books that last. Books that matter. Books that leave you a soaking wet puddle of goo in your bed begging for it to stop but not to end.
In 2013, Im coming for you. All of you.
